to Baden-Württemberg - Welcome to the country! (englisch) Seven regional open-air museums exist in rural Baden-Württemberg. Seven
large historical museums invite you to visit the various landscapes in a
rural setting. Seven regions of south-west The concept of the museum supporters and the state of Baden-Württemberg has proved to be
successful. They collect historical buildings and other remnants of rural culture and make
them accessible to the public. With the creation of
the open-air museums, sites have been created where information and relaxation,
love to the native country and cosmopolitan attitudes harmoniously unite.
Welcome
to the "Beuren Open-Air Museum"!
Especially children will be delighted because of the many chickens,
rabbits, sheep and goats which live in the museum village. In the authentic
corner shop you can still buy goods from Grandma’s time. By the
way, bonbons are still sold unpacked.
Amongst them, a weaver’s house with a weaver’s-dip from the Swabian
Highland, a farmhouse with a completely equipped joiner’s workshop, a photo
studio, a limekiln and a village town hall with a teacher’s apartment. Every house can be examined by everyone. Once a month a baking day takes
place in the museum’s authentic baking house. The oven, which once used
to stand in Esslingen-Sulzgries, is heated with wood. The freshly baked bread,
sweet cakes and savoury pastries are offered to the visitors. The complete event program is available free of charge at the museum or
can be downloaded from the Internet.
For
foreign visitors audio guides are available in English and French.
